Cannoli's Sweet Life Senior Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit sanctuary and rescue for senior dogs, providing them with essential medical care shelters are unable to offer, and a loving home until we connect them with the forever family they've waited their whole life for. Based in Glen Head, New York, we take in small breed senior dogs in desperate need of placement from across the tri-state area. While we take in owner surrenders from within our community, we also partner with Animal Control Centers throughout the area to save senior dogs who find themselves on the euthanasia list through no fault of their own, provide them with immediate—often times, lifesaving—medical treatment, and get them immediately into the arms of our loving staff and volunteers before snuggling into their very own fluffy bed at our sanctuary location.

Founder and CEO Bessy Gatto’s love for animals, especially senior dogs, has provided a home for those overlooked and unwanted. A supporter of many rescues and animal sanctuaries, she has dedicated her time and efforts into advocating for those who can’t speak up for themselves at their most vulnerable stages of life. She has created magic in the lives of hundreds of senior dogs since 2022, but she would have never been inspired to do so without her first dog--our mascot--Cannoli.
